Take a look into Nathanial Barbee's career

Nathanial Barbee is the University of Southern Indiana Athletic Communications Graduate Assistant. He has worked in the department since August 2021.

​

Barbee graduated from USI in May 2022 with a Bachelor of Science degree in radio & television, minoring in sport communication.

​

Barbee started his sport communication career by broadcasting sports on the radio at 95.7 The Spin from August 2019 until May 2021. He was able to broadcast a variety of sports on radio and television including college baseball, softball, men's and women's basketball, men's and women's soccer, women's volleyball, and high school football and basketball.

​

Barbee was also the host of a sports podcast and a coach's show for 95.7 The Spin ("Screaming Eagles Sports Podcast" and "The Stein Show").

​

In May 2020, the Indiana Society of Professional Journalists awarded Barbee 1st place in the "Student Radio Sports Reporting" competition.

​

In April 2021, the Indiana Association of School Broadcasters awarded Barbee 3rd place in the "Radio Sporting Event Broadcast" competition.

​

In April 2021, Barbee began an internship with the Evansville Otters, joining the Marketing/Community Relations team.

​

In June 2021, the Indiana Society of Professional Journalists awarded Barbee 1st place in the "Student Radio News Reporting" competition.

​

Since August 2021, Barbee has worked in the USI Athletic Communications office as a student/graduate assistant. He has been the main contact for men's and women's tennis, women's golf, track & field, and volleyball with secondary contact for baseball, softball, and men's and women's basketball. USI is an NCAA Division I institution and competes in the Ohio Valley Conference (OVC).
